The one actually in use was the middle one. His wife Marie and his sister Christiane call him Wilhelm in the surviving letters, and within the family he signed himself so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two side remarks, because both regularly go wrong:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 The order is <em>Georg Wilhelm Friedrich<\/em>, not \u201eGeorg Friedrich Wilhelm\u201c. The confusion is common enough to have found its way into library catalogues.<br>\u2013 He never bore a title of nobility. Where \u201evon Hegel\u201c appears, either a descendant is meant \u2013 his son Karl was ennobled as a historian \u2013 or it is simply wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is normally cited as <em>G.
