Because they are <em>immediate<\/em> persons, it is contingent whether their <em>particular<\/em> will accords with the will that is <em>in itself<\/em>, which has its existence solely through that particular will. As particular, <em>for itself<\/em> <em>distinct<\/em> from the universal, it comes forward, in the arbitrariness and contingency of insight and volition, against what is <em>in itself<\/em> right &mdash; <em>wrong<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The transition to wrong is made by the higher logical necessity that the moments of the concept &mdash; here, right <em>in itself<\/em>, or the will as <em>universal<\/em>, and right in its <em>existence<\/em>, which is precisely the <em>particularity<\/em> of the will &mdash; be posited as <em>distinct for themselves<\/em>, which belongs to the <em>abstract reality<\/em> of the concept.<sup data-fn=\"9dc99d4a-91a0-463f-9381-3d254379157a\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#9dc99d4a-91a0-463f-9381-3d254379157a\" id=\"9dc99d4a-91a0-463f-9381-3d254379157a-link\">1<\/a><\/sup> &mdash; But this particularity of the will for itself is arbitrariness and contingency, which, in the contract, I have given up only as arbitrariness over a <em>single<\/em> thing, not as the arbitrariness and contingency of the will itself.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-footnotes\"><li id=\"9dc99d4a-91a0-463f-9381-3d254379157a\">Hegel gives no reference.
