{"id":900224,"date":"2024-05-31T06:50:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-31T04:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grundlinien.de\/?p=900160"},"modified":"2026-09-24T11:43:15","modified_gmt":"2026-09-24T09:43:15","slug":"163","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grundlinien.de\/en\/163\/","title":{"rendered":"163"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"ed-s\" title=\"Erstdruck 1820, S.\u00a0170\" style=\"font-size:.7em;color:#a2977f;letter-spacing:.03em;white-space:nowrap;\">|170|<\/span> The <em>ethical<\/em> [aspect] of marriage consists in the consciousness of this unity as a substantial purpose, and thus in love, trust, and the sharing of the whole of individual existence &mdash; a disposition and actuality in which the natural drive is reduced to the modality of a natural moment, one destined to be extinguished precisely in its satisfaction, while the spiritual bond stands forth in <em>its right<\/em> as the substantial [element] &mdash; and thus as that which is elevated above the contingency of the passions and of temporary particular liking, as, <em>in itself<\/em>, indissoluble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>That marriage is not the relationship of a contract concerning its essential basis has been remarked above (<a href=\"https:\/\/grundlinien.de\/en\/75\/\">&sect; 75<\/a>), for it is precisely this: to proceed from the standpoint of contract, of the personality that is self-subsistent in its singularity, <em>in order to supersede it<\/em>. The identification of the personalities, through which the family is <em>one person<\/em> and its members are its accidents (though substance is essentially the relation of itself to accidents; see <em>Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences<\/em>, &sect; 98)<sup data-fn=\"27633bf3-e3a8-4ad3-a13d-2bede0d09657\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#27633bf3-e3a8-4ad3-a13d-2bede0d09657\" id=\"27633bf3-e3a8-4ad3-a13d-2bede0d09657-link\">1<\/a><\/sup>, is the ethical spirit which, for itself &mdash; stripped of the manifold externality it has in its existence as <em>in these<\/em> individuals, and in the interests of appearance determined in time and in various ways &mdash; has been lifted out as a shape for representation, and has been worshipped as the <em>Penates<\/em> and the like, and constitutes in general that in which the <em>religious<\/em> character of marriage and family, <em>piety<\/em>, consists.
