Die Person muß sich eine äußere Sphäre ihrer Freiheit geben, um als Idee zu sein. Weil die Person der an und für sich seiende unendliche Wille in dieser ersten, noch ganz abstrakten Bestimmung ist, so ist dies von ihm Unterschiedene, was die Sphäre seiner Freiheit ausmachen kann, gleichfalls als das von ihm unmittelbar Verschiedene und Trennbare bestimmt.

A person must translate his freedom into an external sphere in
order to exist as Idea. Personality is the first, still wholly abstract,
determination of the absolute and infinite will, and therefore this
sphere distinct from the person, the sphere capable of embodying his
freedom, is likewise determined as what is immediately different and
separable from him.
