This relation is thus the mediation of a will identical in owners existing for themselves in absolute distinction, and it contains this: that each, through his own will and that of the other, ceases to be an owner, remains an owner, and becomes an owner; — the mediation of the will to give up one single piece of property, and of the will to take on such a piece of property, and hence that of another, within the identical connection that the one act of willing arrives at its resolve only insofar as the other act of willing is present.
