Since, in the hard struggle of these realms — which here stand in a difference that has attained its absolute opposition, and which are at the same time rooted in one unity and Idea — the spiritual degrades the existence of its heaven to an earthly here-and-now and to common worldliness, both in actuality and in representation, while the temporal, conversely, builds up its abstract being-for-itself into thought and into the principle of rational being and knowing, into the rationality of right and law, the opposition has, in itself, vanished into an insubstantial shape; the present has shed its barbarism and its unlawful caprice, and truth has shed its beyond and its contingent force, so that true reconciliation has become objective — a reconciliation which unfolds the state into the image and actuality of reason, wherein self-consciousness finds the actuality of its substantial knowing and willing in organic development, just as it finds, in religion, the feeling and representation of this its truth as ideal essence, and, in science, the freely conceived cognition of this truth as one and the same in its mutually complementary manifestations — the state, nature, and the ideal world.
