Hegel closes. A preface, he says, can only speak about a book from the outside, in a personal and noncommittal way. The matter itself calls for treatment by the rules of science. And that is also how he wants to be judged.
Some contradict him with mere opinions, not with reasons. Hegel counts such objections only as a personal postscript. He is indifferent to them.
Hegel signed the Preface in Berlin on June 25, 1820.
