The activity of the will, in sublating the contradiction between subjectivity and objectivity, translating its ends out of the former determination into the latter, and yet remaining with itself in objectivity, is – apart from the formal mode of consciousness (§ 8), in which objectivity is only immediate actuality – the essential development of the substantial content of the Idea (§ 21), a development in which the concept determines the Idea, at first itself abstract, into the totality of its system; and this Idea, as the substantial, independent of the opposition between a merely subjective end and its realization, is the same in both these forms.

    [zu § 26-28] Spirit wills to be Idea — concept and existence.
    In the preceding § [26], after an elucidation — of universal logical determinations — a return is made to § 21.
    Objectivity — is a naive[?] sense of it — on γ) in the preceding § — externality as particularity. In this respect one can say, only[?] an uncultivated condition. Human beings, peoples are still subjective, as was the case in § 17 and [§ 26] β).
    In § 28 a determination is singled out that in § 27 is merely inserted, namely this mode of the objectification of the concept — which is a particularization, a development of the determinations of the concept. § 32 belongs here.
