[p. 274]
|274| 2. absolute power, insofar as he actualizes the universal and preserves the individual in the universal, or eternal creator of the universe. He is 3. wisdom, insofar as his power is only holy power, 4. goodness, insofar as he allows the individual to be in its actuality, and 5. justice, insofar as he eternally brings it back to the universal.
§ 78
Evil is the estrangement from God, insofar as the individual, according to its freedom, separates itself from the universal and in exclusion from it strives to be absolutely for itself. Insofar as it is the nature of the finite free being to reflect itself into this individuality, this is to be regarded as evil.
§ 79
But the freedom of the individual being is at the same time in itself an equality of the essence with itself, or it is in itself of divine nature. This cognition, that human nature is not truly something alien to divine nature, assures man of divine grace and lets him grasp it, whereby the reconciliation of God with the world, or the vanishing of its estrangement from God, comes about.
§ 80
Divine worship is the determinate occupation of thought and feeling with God, whereby the individual strives to bring about his unity with him and to give himself the consciousness and assurance of this unity, which agreement of his will with the divine will he is to prove through the disposition and manner of acting of his actual life.
