The public estate labours for the state; spirit has raised itself to the universal object – man of business; but his labour is itself very divided, abstract, – machine labour;166) it is indeed immediately for the universal – but according to a limited and at the same time fixed side, on which he cannot make changes. – His disposition is that he fulfils his duty; he raises the determinate universal to the knowing of the universal; in his determinate doing he sees the absolute, moral disposition – spirit has raised itself above character – it does a universal.
